Schweiggers
Schweiggers in the district of Zwettl is a pleasant - and quite magical - market town in the heart of the Waldviertel. With its exciting sights, it invites you to discover and linger. Even the famous poet Robert Hamerling raved about this place and drew a mythological landscape sketch of it. Today's visitors and excursionists can also discover wonderful natural spectacles and great sights around Schweiggers - at the source of the Thaya.
Leisure time in Schweiggers: mysticism & magic, spirit & sport
Thaya spring and natural pond complex, parish pond and watershed power place - in Schweiggers, families can discover water and its powers in a variety of ways. Exciting stones - such as the Meridian Stone near Siebenlinden or the Frauenbichl rock formation - are waiting to be hiked and explored. The extraordinary grass labyrinth in Schweiggers is not only fun for young visitors.
Schweiggers pilgrimage site: the Madonna in the tree
The so-called Moata near Siebenlinden is a popular pilgrimage site, which was built in 1892 on the spot where a farming family discovered a pine stump with the image of Our Lady of Mariazell while felling wood. The tree disc with the resin image of the Madonna is still on display here today.
