Galerie Gugging

The Museum Gugging houses a permanent selection of fascinating paintings, drawings and objects by the Art Brut artists from Gugging and is constantly expanding its range of exhibitions to include international representatives of this currently highly acclaimed art movement.

The Museum Gugging is the only exhibition venue for Art Brut in Austria. The French artist Jean Dubuffet used the term Art Brut to describe original art created without an academic or art-theoretical background.

The museum exhibits works by the internationally successful August Walla, Oswald Tschirtner and Johann Hauser. However, works by (almost) forgotten Gugging artists such as Franz Gableck and Otto Prinz are also on display. The lively productivity of contemporary Gugging artists, who live in the nearby House of Artists, is reflected in unusual and experimental exhibition formats - such as the workshops of artists Johann Garber and Karl Vondal in museum gugging itself.

The inspiring atmosphere of the house, in the middle of the Vienna Woods, allows art lovers to enjoy art and nature at the same time.

Museum Gugging is integrated into the internationally unparalleled Art Brut Center, which also includes Atelier Gugging and Galerie Gugging. The museum store in the entrance area is also worth discovering: the tempting range of products on offer extends from specialist literature, postcards and posters of the works exhibited in the museum and gallery to clothing by Austrian designers and specially made delicacies.

Painting, drawing, mixing, tearing, kneading - simply discover the joy of creating. Through a free, playful approach, the children experience their own creativity and there are no limits to their imagination. A format for everyone who likes to experiment with different materials.
