Részletek: Explorer Route – Danube meets Lake Neusiedl

Rövid leírás

"Wind, Wine and Water" - is the motto of the approx. 100 km long explorer route. It leads from the reed-fringed shores of Lake Neusiedl to the Danube floodplains, between vineyards and idyllic cellar lanes, past historical sites and modern wind turbines. The explorer route connects Burgenland and Lower Austria, the Neusiedler See cycling network with the Danube cycle path, nature with culture and technology.

Leírás

The "Explorer Route – Danube meets Lake Neusiedl" is a joint project of Burgenland and Lower Austria. The sights in both federal states are connected and offer the cyclist, in addition to the nature experience, also cultural experience. The route leads through the following places: Circular route, Neusiedl am See – Parndorf – Neudorf bei Parndorf – Gattendorf – Pama – Kittsee – Berg – Edelstal – Prellenkirchen – Petronell-Carnuntum – Rohrau – Gerhaus – Pachfurth – Bruck an der Leitha – Bruckneudorf - Parndorf – Neusiedl am See

Water is a constant companion on the explorer route. It starts in Neusiedl am See. The Neusiedler See region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the Neusiedler See-Seewinkel National Park. After the expanse of the Parndorf plateau you finally reach the municipality of Edelstal via Kittsee and Berg. Here natural mineral water springs known under the name Römerquelle.

Wind - How modern technology shapes the flat landscape is shown already on the trip from Neusiedl towards Parndorf in the huge wind farm.

From Prellenkirchen the route leads to Petronell to the impressive nature landscape of the Danube floodplains.

There is also no shortage of historical discoveries. In Petronell the Roman antiquity in the Roman city Carnuntum comes to life again. Numerous historical jewels accompany the further bike tour – such as Rohrau Castle, the medieval center of Bruck/Leitha or the Roman country villa near Bruckneudorf. From there the round leads via Parndorf back to Neusiedl.

Wine: From water it is not far to wine. Along the cozy route, wine shops, wine taverns and cellars invite you to taste the famous wines from the wine regions Carnuntum and Neusiedlersee. Numerous places to stop offer culinary delicacies.
