A city that enchants.

The Renaissance-influenced townscape, the winding alleyways and stately town houses, the mighty parish church, the adjacent castle and the town wall with its towers - all this creates a romantic atmosphere in Scheibbs. At the same time, the district town presents itself as the heart of Ötscherland and is an administrative center, health center, school town and business location. With Neubruck Castle, Scheibbs was also one of the locations for the provincial exhibition in 2015.

The new Scheibbs Old Town Tour leads right through the picturesque old town, taking visitors back to the heyday of the iron and provisions trade. The "Scheibbser Stadtbegleiter" (Scheibbs town guide) is the perfect companion for this eventful route - it can be picked up at any time from the large overview boards at the train station, Sandsteg and Rathausplatz. The history of the town can also be experienced as part of the guided tour "Scheibbs in the flow of time": Information and pre-registration at the town council's cultural office.

The approximately one and a half hour walk with its two routes through history is not too strenuous, thanks to the cozy coffee houses and inns that invite you to sample culinary specialties, such as the well-known sweet "Scheibbser Kugeln" from the Reschinsky pastry shop. The newly designed Erlaufhafen harbor with its quiet and meeting zone, as well as the grandstand-like Scheibbs pier, invites you to take a relaxing break right by the water.

It is also worth visiting the ceramics museum, in the founding building of Scheibbser Keramik, in a former hammer mill. On display are over 2000 expressive ceramic objects from the Art Nouveau, Art Deco and post-war periods of the Scheibbs clay industry and Scheibbs ceramics.

Hiking enthusiasts can enjoy a special experience in Scheibbs: a 52-kilometre circular hiking trail around the district capital. Of course, you will also pass the Scheibbs landmark, the Urlingerwarte, which towers high above the town on the 844 m high Blassenstein. Breathtaking views of Scheibbs and Ötscher, as far as the Waldviertel and Gesäuse await, especially from here.

The Urlingerwarte can also be reached on various shorter hiking routes from Scheibbs - a special tip is the "Quellenweg". Less sporty hikers can take the car or bus to the parking lot at the end of Blassensteinstraße - from there it is only a 15-minute walk to the hut

Sporty all round - A leisurely cycle tour on the Ötscherland cycle path along the Erlauf, a brisk mountain bike ride up the Blassenstein or Ginselberg, a taster session on the indoor climbing facility, a workout on the fitness trail in the Burgerhof forest: exercise brings body and mind into harmony. The all-weather pool in Scheibbs offers the necessary relaxation - a popular leisure venue all year round with indoor and outdoor pools, children's area with all-weather slide, whirlpool, steam bath, sauna, solarium and free loungers to borrow.
